AFCEA Liberty Bell Chapter awarded the 2006 Science Teaching Tools $1,000
Grant to William Penn High School of New Castle, DE on June 7, 2006.
Philadelphia, PA June 22, 2006 -- AFCEA Liberty Bell Chapter
awarded the 2006 Science Teaching Tools Grant to William Penn High School of New
Castle, DE on June 7, 2006. Science Department Chair and Teacher Mr. Chan L a m
b o r n submitted an application to incorporate Smart Board technology in his
classroom to improve the quality of learning and documenting lessons. With this
new classroom technology, the students at William Penn High will be able to
combine the abilities to: access websites, highlight key points in the lessons,
document class notes in electronic form, and save the info online on their own
website.
This will create a learning environment that compares to the technology that the
students will see in a modern scientific workforce location. Assistant Principal
Brian Erskine and Supervisor of Academics Linda McLeod added that William Penn
High and the Colonial School District are committed to the use of technology to
enhance student achievement, and the addition of Smart Board Technology should
help increase the percentage of students that meet the state standards in
Science.
